Arizona Stronghold Vineyards & Caduceus Cellars/Merkin Vineyards

Arizona Stronghold Vineyards & Caduceus Cellars are the brainchild of Eric Glomski and Maynard Keenan, lead singer of A Perfect Circle, TOOL and his new project Puscifer.

These wines are getting quite the buzz lately as Maynard is currently touring the East with Puscifer and his documentary film, Blood Into Wine, has hit select theatres around the country.

Check out the movie website at http://www.bloodintowine.com

Arizona Stronghold’s estate vineyard is located in southeastern Arizona (Cochise County) at around 5000 feet elevation. This is a unique microclimate for grape production, similar to that found in Argentina.

Arizona Stronghold ‘TAZI’ White 2008

Tazi is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling and Malvasia Bianca. Think of it as Arizona’s version of the white wine Conundrum—floral and aromatic with notes of lemongrass, mandarin orange with hints of fresh grass and honeysuckle. The wine is smooth and luscious and pairs well with butter and cream sauces.

Arizona Stronghold ‘NACHISE’ Red 2008

Nachise is a blend of Syrah, Grenache, Petit Sirah and Mourvedre and is reminiscent of a French Cotes du Rhone red. Think plum, black cherry and distinct notes of dried herbs, cinnamon spice and roasted coffee. Smooth and silky and the perfect pairing for roasted lamb.

Merkin Vineyards ‘CHUPACABRA’ Red 2006

Chupacabra is Maynard’s red blend from Paso Robles, California made up of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Petite Sirah. It’s a pretty big wine but juicy to boot—notes of plum, cassis, forest floor and vanilla spice. Pairs well with lamb or beef dishes.
