Now is the perfect time to get out and visit a winery in your backyard, where many are harvesting grapes and processing fruit—not to mention the fall colors in many parts of the country.
Wines Tasted:
Jack Rabbit Hill Sauvignon Blanc 2007,
North Fork Valley, Colorado

A very ripe style of Sauvignon Blanc—think apricot, nectarine plus grapefruit citrus, honeydew melon and a whiff of fresh cut grass, smooth and not too crisp, perfect with sushi.
2 Lads Winery Chardonnay 2007,
Old Mission Peninsula, Michigan
www.2lwinery.com
Fruit-driven style with loads of green apple, pear and pineapple notes—plus a whiff of vanilla spice, smooth and elegant.
Arizona Stronghold Vineyards‘Mangus’
Sangiovese/Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot 2007,
Cochise County, Southeastern Arizona

Supple, ripe cherry, dried rose petal, earth, leather, cardamom, lush finish
Agua Dulce ‘Angeles Crest’
Cabernet Sauvignon 2002,
Los Angeles County, California

The real deal—rich, dark, cassis, plum intermixed with chocolate and vanilla spice, velvety texture and OH so good, this one demands a steak.

YaY I love the Broads and to see Andrew give Props to Old Mission Pennisula, is great, I am from Traverse City, a little town in northern michigan where this wine is made, another little known fact is Madonna's dad owns a winery up there too called Ciccone.
